Guidelines issued for fiscal year-end furniture purchases, interior design, refurbishings

Laboratory organizations planning to purchase office furniture or refurbish offices in the 2003 fiscal year must complete the purchases or work by Sept. 25.

The Laboratory's fiscal year ends Sept. 30 with the 2004 fiscal year beginning the next day.

Facility Planning (FWO-FP) has established general cut-off dates to assist organizations in fiscal year-end planning.

• A full scope project, involving design, product purchases, delivery and installation should be initiated by June 30.
• Purchases involving just new product, delivery and/or installation should be initiated by July 15.
• FWO-FP will work with Lab organizations to help ensure completion and billing as quickly as is feasible, regardless of when the request is received. However, the closer to the Sept. 25 date, the less certain FWO-FP is that [completion and billing] will [be] delivered, invoiced and approved prior to the fiscal year 2003 closing.

Lab organizations planning on making furniture purchases or contracting for interior design and installation services should complete a Interior Planning Service Request (IPSR) Form. It can be found at http://int.lanl.gov/orgs/fwo/ipsr/ online.
