Walking Month kickoff walk is WednesdayA kick-off walk/trail hike for the Wellness Center's "Walk this Weigh" walking month program and Let's Talk Trash will be held at noon, Wednesday on National Employee Health and Fitness Day. The Wellness Center, part of Occupational Medicine (HSR-2), and Risk Reduction and Environmental Stewardship (RRES) Division are sponsoring the kickoff event. Walkers should plan to meet under the canopy by the Wellness Center track and join Rich Marquez, associate director for administration, in a warm-up lap on the track before walking the 1.5-mile Fitness Trail. Walkers should wear proper footwear and comfortable walking/hiking shoes. There will be refreshments, drawings and free gifts to the first 50 walkers. Walk This Weigh runs from May 19 to June 13. Register at http://www.wellness.lanl.gov/svc/motive/walkweigh/info.htm online or contact the Wellness Center at 7-7166. In conjunction with Walk This Weigh and the Lab's 60th anniversary, RRES Division is sponsoring Let's Talk Trash, in which walkers are challenged to pick up trash along favorite walks and trails during the month-long walking program. Participants will be eligible for prize drawings the first week of June and at the program's conclusion. Trash bags, registration and more information about trash pick-up events will be available at the Walk this Weigh kick-off walk. Write to ejs@lanl.gov by electronic mail to register, or for more trash pick-up information. For more information on the walking month program, see the May 6 Daily Newsbulletin.
