NNSA’s Brooks to speak at Laboratory Tuesday

National Nuclear Security Administration Director Linton Brooks is scheduled to speak to Laboratory personnel at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in the Administration Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3.

Brooks will talk about Wednesday’s announcement by the Department of Energy concerning the University of California’s contract to operate the Lab. Prior to the all-employee meeting, Brooks is scheduled to speak at the Laboratory Information Meeting.

A special electronic mail address has been created for Lab personnel to submit questions in advance of Brooks’ talk. Lab workers can write to brooks_questions@lanl.gov by electronic mail. Employees should specify if they would like their question answered in the LIM, or at the all-employee meeting; if no preference is stated, the question will be referred to the all-employee meeting.

Brooks’ talk has caused a scheduled 60th Anniversary event, “Nuclear Weapons Testing: Is it necessary? Why? How? -- The Technical Tension,” to be moved to 1 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the main auditorium. Lab personnel who have registered for this colloquium are asked to adjust their schedules accordingly and attend the event at the new time.

The talk also will be shown on Labnet Channel 9 and on desktop computers using Real Media. It is open to all Laboratory badge holders.
