The April-May issue of the Laboratory Connection has been published. It is distributed to community leaders in Northern New Mexico.
The newsletter -- published by the Community Relations (CRO) Office and Information Management (IM) Division with editorial support from the Public Affairs Office (PAO) -- is designed to enhance community understanding of Lab programs, community activities and initiatives, and business and educational opportunities.
This issue features Lab theoretical physicist Frank Harlow of Computational Fluid Dynamics (T-3). Harlow was recognized at the Lab's 60th anniversary celebration on April 21 for 50 years of service to the Lab. Read about Harlow's talk on turbulence in the April 25 Daily Newsbulletin.
There also is information about the Lab's 60th anniversary events which have begun in earnest and a look back at Los Alamos since its inception in 1943. Schedules and general information about 60th anniversary activities are available at http://sixty.lanl.gov online. New events will be added to the event schedule frequently.
The Lab recently dedicated the new Nonproliferation and International Security Center at Technical Area 3. This issue includes a story about the new facility. Read more about the dedication in the April 23 Daily Newsbulletin.
Lab employee Shirley Roybal of the Protocol Office, part of Public Affairs, and a feature on five generations of the Gerald Martinez family and two generations of the Hsu family working at the Lab also are in this issue.
