Personnel changes announced in Human Resources Division

Judy Ackerhalt of the University of California will be the new acting Human Resources (HR) Division leader, one of several personnel changes in HR announced last Friday.

The personnel changes are part of an institutional effort to implement a formal change process in HR similar to the transformation effort ongoing in the Business Operations (BUS) Division.

Ackerhalt is currently deputy to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and executive director of Systemwide Human Resources and Benefits Strategic Planning at UC. Ackerhalt has 26 years of HR experience, including 15 years in the UC Office of the President and 11 years at the Laboratory. Ackerhalt will be acting HR Division leader for a period of 60 to 90 days pending the recruitment of a permanent division leader.

Rich Marquez, associate director for Administration (ADA) made the announcement in a master management memo.

Heidi Hahn will serve as acting deputy division leader during the interim period. Hahn has been with the Laboratory since 1990. She currently serves as group leader for Workforce Data & Analysis (HR-WDA). Hahn's professional background includes stints at Idaho National Engineering Laboratory and Virginia Tech. She holds a doctoral degree in industrial engineering and operations research and bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology.

The appointments are effective May 1.
