SARS leads to suspension of UC education programs abroad

The continued expansion of severe acute respiratory syndrome has led to the University of California suspending its education abroad programs.

"Regrettably, the Education Abroad Program has suspended its programs at Peking University and Beijing Normal University in Beijing and mandated the immediate return of UC students in the programs," said John Marcum, universitywide director of the Education Abroad Program. No students in UC's education abroad program have been diagnosed with SARS.
