Wednesday, April 23, 2003 Sleep disorders panel discussion is todayHaving trouble falling to sleep? Counted enough sheep to last a lifetime? Laboratory personnel can learn some helpful tips on getting to sleep by watching a live panel discussion at 2 p.m. today. The event originally was scheduled for March 19 but postponed because of inclement weather. The panel discussion, "Sleep On It: A Comprehensive Discussion on Ways to Improve Your Sleep," will originate from the Labnet Channel 10 studios at University of New Mexico, Los Alamos, and will be broadcast live. Viewers watching can call in questions to the panelists, who will be able to respond to questions in real-time, explained Tom Locke of the Lab's Employee Assistance Program (HSR-2), moderator of the panel discussion. The panelists are Dr. Barry Krakow, medical director of the Sleep and Human Health Institute in Albuquerque and soon to be director of the sleep center laboratory at Los Alamos Medical Center and Dr. John Nagel, psychiatrist and medical director of PVH Mountain Crest Hospital and professor of clinical psychiatry at the University Colorado's School of Medicine. To watch the panel discussion, go to the Labnet Channel 10 Web page at http://www.hr.lanl.gov/TIO/labnet10.htm online. After the doctors conclude their presentation, viewers can ask questions by calling 5-3762 or faxing questions to 5-7862. Viewers also can submit written questions to sleep@lanl.gov by electronic mail, Locke said. For more information, see the April 18 Daily Newsbulletin or contact Locke at 7-7339.
