New requirements for chemical management and chemical inventory

The publication of this notice accomplishes the following:

• Replaces the mandatory document Appendix A, "Required Sheet for use of LANL’s Automated Chemical Inventory System,” of LIR 402-510-01, "Chemical Management," with the mandatory document Appendix A "Required Sheet for Use of ChemLog: LANL's Chemical Management Database”
• Replaces all references to Automated Chemical Inventory System with references to ChemLog
• Extends the deadline for completing the chemical inventory for the 2002 calendar year from Dec. 31, 2002 to June 1, 2003 (The chemical inventory for the 2003 calendar year must still be completed by Dec. 31, 2003.)
• Identifies specific timelines for completion of annual inventories on ChemLog in the general requirements, the Chemical Hygiene Plan requirements and the Hazard Communication Plan requirements
• Identifies the requirement for immediately accounting for the chemicals on the following federally regulated or Lab required chemical lists: (1) Process Safety Management/Risk Management Plan; (2) SARA Extremely Hazardous Substances; (3) LANL Category 1
• Identifies the methods for measuring and reporting compliance with the requirements of the Chemical Management LIR.
