Monday, February 3, 2003 Nomination deadline is Feb. 28 for 2003 Laboratory Fellows PrizeThe call for nominations deadline for the 2003 Fellows Prize for outstanding research in science or engineering performed at the Laboratory is Feb. 28.
The Fellows Prize recognizes the immense value of leadership in science and engineering at the Lab and to stimulate the interest of talented young staff members in developing the skills and making the personal sacrifices necessary to become effective leaders. Nominees must be full-time employees of the Laboratory at the time of nomination. All staff members of the Laboratory are eligible, however, Lab Fellows and postdoctoral researchers are ineligible. The work may be classified or unclassified and research articles must have been published within the last 10 years in journals, books or reports. Nominations for the award are reviewed by a committee of Laboratory fellows and are active for two years. Nomination packages should be sent to either Jerry Brackbill of Computational Fluid Dynamics (T-3), chair of the prize committee, at mail stop B216, or to Jack Hills of Theoretical Astrophysics (T-6), fellows prize coordinator at mail stop B227. The Laboratory Director will present a $3,000 check per individual and the awards will be announced at the Laboratory's 60th anniversary celebration in April.
