Open enrollment, health-care plan changes for 2003 detailed

The Laboratory on Tuesday released information on open enrollment and health-care plan changes for 2003 for University of California Laboratory employees and retirees. An electronic memo from Rich Marquez, associate director for administration, describes plan changes and new health care premiums.

The monthly premiums for UC employees and retirees is detailed in the boxes below.

Michele French, UC's executive director for human resources and benefits, and representatives from Deloitte and Touche, were in Los Alamos Monday to talk about health-care issues, including usage trends, at an all managers meeting and separate meetings for employees and retirees. Deloitte and Touche was hired by UC to investigate health care issues in Northern New Mexico. The university is mailing open enrollment packets to the homes of UC Lab employees and retirees. Open enrollment for 2003 benefit plans begins Nov.1 and ends at midnight Pacific Standard Time (PST) Nov. 30 for UC Laboratory employees and retirees. In addition, Benefits and Employment Services (HR-B) is sponsoring a series of open enrollment meetings at various locations around the Laboratory and for retirees.

The first open enrollment presentation is from 11 a.m. to noon, next Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Administration Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3. Laboratory Director John Browne will speak about current health care issues and the impact on the UC health care plan. A Human Resources (HR) Division representative will talk about open enrollment and answer questions. The talk is open to all UC Lab employees and also will be shown on Labnet Channel 9.
