A watershed of informationHydrologist Ken Mullen of Water Quality and Hydrology (RRES-WQH) explains the origins and levels of contaminants that have been found in ash and runoff in the wake of the May 2000 Cerro Grande Fire during a forum held Thursday evening at Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos. Mullen presented data that tracked the movement of some contaminants during stormwater runoff after the fire and compared those data to historical studies of contaminant movement in area watersheds. Other presentations at the forum included an analysis of erosion in lower Pueblo Canyon by the New Mexico Environment Department Oversight Bureau, an update on conditions of the upper Pueblo Canyon watershed by members of the Los Alamos Volunteer Task Force, and a presentation about this summer's installation of a replacement sewer line in Pueblo Canyon. The forum was sponsored by the Volunteer Task Force and the Pajarito Plateau Watershed Partnership. A small group of people attended. Photo by James E. Rickman
