Laboratory Director to speak today on ethicsLaboratory Director John Browne will address the importance of integrity and building a foundation of trust at a Directors Colloquium scheduled for 1:10 p.m. today in the Physics Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3. The program will air live on Labnet Channel 9 and can be accessed using the Internet through Real Media Player. It is open to Laboratory badge holders. Browne said he is concerned with widespread corporate scandals and subsequent ethical challenges facing private industry and public institutions. There have been recent scandals in the scientific community that underscore an increased need for accountability. "We have an extraordinary responsibility as a nuclear weapons laboratory to demonstrate integrity and an adherence to a code of values," said Browne. Browne also will talk about the challenge of creating an environment of shared values at the Laboratory.
