East Jemez Road construction project hours adjusted

Workers making road improvements on a stretch of East Jemez Road have adjusted their work schedule. The work will take place from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. evenings and weekends, according to Crystal Rodarte of Utilities and Infrastructure (FWO-UI).

"There is a lower traffic volume during those hours and the additional daylight hours will provide a safer construction zone for the workers," Rodarte said.

Work involves widening East Jemez Road from west of the Los Alamos County Landfill to the Royal Crest mobile home community intersection, making turning movements safer and improving sight distance.

Workers also will be milling East Jemez Road from Diamond Drive to NM 4. Upon completion of the milling project, East Jemez Road will be repaved from Diamond Drive to NM 4. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September, weather permitting.
