Tuesday, June 11, 2002 Editor's Note: As part of National Men's Health Week, the Wellness Center (HSR-2) has partnered with the Men's Health Network to promote year-round men's health. All this week a bulletin board display at the Wellness Center at Technical Area 3 will contain information on men's health and wellness. Displays also will be set up at additional locations around the Laboratory. The Wellness Center also has Men's Maintenance Manuals, screening guides and other men's health related brochures. This week, the Daily Newsbulletin is publishing a men's health tip. For more information, contact the Wellness Center at 7-7166. Osteoporosis Osteoporosis,
the bone thinning disease that leads to painful, debilitating bone fractures,
affects five million American men. While there has been increased national recognition
of osteoporosis as a major women's health problem, the impact of this disease
on men has been under-diagnosed, under-reported, and inadequately researched.
