Science Fair judges needed for April 12-13
Around 60 science fair judges are still needed for the 50th annual New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair on the New Mexico Tech campus in Socorro on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13. For more information on the event you can check out the website at http://www.nmt.edu/~science/fair online or call Nancy Gilson at (505) 835-5118. The web pages indicate a March 1 deadline for volunteering but just get your information to Nancy as soon as possible.

Speaking of Family Day…if you know of musical groups that would like to play to an appreciative crowd at TA-3 on Family Day (Saturday, April 13) have them contact Andrew Chavez at 5-4803 or write to ajchavez@lanl.gov by electronic mail. The performance will be unpaid but what a way to grow a new fan base.

Student housing needed over summer
Do you know someone who would be willing to house summer students in a room, basement or house for compensation? Students will begin arriving on May 13 and will be working on internship/research programs on a short-term basis at the Lab. If you know of someone who can help have them write to kfeller@losalamos.com by electronic mail to post space availability.

Women's work clothes are needed including belts, handbags, unused makeup, nail polish, toiletries, small housewares, dishes, silverware and new or slightly used children's clothes. Employees leaving Lab must attend termination presentation

Employees who are leaving the Laboratory or changing to casual status must attend a benefits termination presentation held by Compensation and Benefits (HR-1).

The termination presentations are held every Laboratory pay day for University of California Lab employees. Employees who are retiring aren't required to attend a presentation, but rather, they should schedule a meeting with their designated benefits specialist.

The presentations begin at 8:30 a.m. in room P280 on the second floor of the Otowi Building at Technical Area 3. Pre-registration is required. Employees should register on line at http://www.lanl.gov/internal/training/training.html one to two weeks prior to their last scheduled work day to sign up for a benefits termination presentation.

Employees also must obtain a termination checklist from HR-Staffing (HR-5) before the presentation.

At the presentation, employees will receive a packet of information about their benefits and savings balances. They will learn about options to continue or convert insurance plans and distribution options for savings funds.

Employees who require a sign language interpreter should write to benefits@lanl.gov by e-mail three days in advance of the presentation they plan to attend. Or call the benefits office at 5-3842 (TDD).

Because of limited parking, employees should plan to arrive early and/or make alternative transportation arrangements, such as using Johnson Controls Northern New Mexico's ride service.
