March Laboratory Connection newsletter now onlineThe March issue of the Laboratory Connection has been published. It is being distributed to community leaders in Northern New Mexico. The newsletter - it is published by the Community Relations Office (CRO) and Information Management (IM) Division with editorial support from Public Affairs (PA) - is designed to enhance community understanding of Laboratory programs, community activities and initiatives, business and educational opportunities. This issue contains an article describing new safety and security procedures implemented by the Laboratory as a result of the Cerro Grande Fire and the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. There also is an article on the new, joint Lab/Los Alamos County Emergency Operations Center. The March issue also contains an article highlighting a Laboratory technology that was part of the 2002 Winter Olympics security network. The Biological Aerosol Sentry and Information System, or BASIS, monitors the air to detect for the criminal use of biological agents. Other news in this issue: a Los Alamos County meeting discussing the future of Los Alamos, congressional visits to the Laboratory and the appointment of Joseph Garcia as Los Alamos' new tribal relations team leader in CRO.
