Browne signing cooperative agreement today at UCSBLaboratory Director John Browne today is at the University of California, Santa Barbara campus to sign a cooperative agreement between the Lab and UCSB.The agreement aims to build on the mutual expertise of faculty members and researchers in materials, environmental science and astrophysics, with a goal of strengthening interactions between the Lab and campus in both research and educational opportunities. Joining Browne in the signing ceremony are UCSB Chancellor Henry Yang and UC Vice President for Laboratory Management John McTague. Several Los Alamos staff members accompanied Browne to the signing agreement. During his visit to UC, Santa Barbara, Browne will tour materials research facilities, led by Evelyn Hu, director of the Californias NanoSystems Institute and UCSBs Institute for Quantized Engineering Science and Technology. iQUEST is an organized research unit at UCSB that focuses on the fundamental properties of complex systems such as superfluid helium, liquid crystals and magnetic nanostructures. Browne also will meet with Dennis Aigner, dean, and Arturo Keller, assistant professor, from UC, Santa Barbaras Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management. The Bren schools mission is mission is to play a leading role in researching environmental issues, training research scientists and professionals and identifying and solving environmental problems. In addition, Browne will deliver a talk to faculty, postdocs and graduate students and meet separately with graduate students and postdocs interested in learning about opportunities at the Lab.
