Energy Secretary creates new plan, account for clean up for Cold War weapons production sites Department of Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham recently unveiled a new plan to expedite the clean up former DOE Cold War weapons production sites. The plan includes creation of an $800 million account to be used by participating sites. Abraham's proposal is part of the department's overall $6.7 billion clean up budget in the 2003 fiscal year budget request. The 2003 fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
