This week's issue of the Los Alamos News Letter is scheduled to appear in mailboxes and newsstands today and features the Lab's homeland defense technologies. Also, the issue has a summary of Laboratory Director John Browne's National Press Club talk in which he called for a "renewed compact" between the nation and the physical sciences community. Included too are Department of Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham's policy statement on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, a safety tip about uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, a bevy of newsmakers, service anniversaries and a story on a new book by retiree Elaine Pinkerton Coleman. Employees can access L.A.N.L. at http://www.lanl.gov/worldview/news/LANL/022102.pdf (Adobe Acrobat reuired) on the Web or obtain additional copies at the bright blue distribution boxes. Lab organizations receiving too many or not enough issues should call the mailroom at 7-4166.
