Turning onto Diamond Drive and pedestrians
at the Eniwetok signal
A couple simple suggestions to improve the Diamond Drive situation:
- If the turn lane in the center had been striped with a double
set of dashed lines, you wouldn't have to wait for breaks in
traffic in both directions when turning left onto Diamond Drive.
This would make it a lot easier to get out of the parking lot
in front of the Theoretical (T) Division building.
The time cycle is set too long for the pedestrian crosswalks
across Diamond Drive at Eniwetok Road. It can take several minutes
for the light to change after pressing the cross button. This
only encourages pedestrians to try to dash across against the
light or avoid the crosswalk entirely and dash across in the
middle of the block. Making this signal more responsive to the
crossing buttons would improve pedestrian safety without seriously
impacting the flow of traffic.
