Please consider donating to the Los Alamos Lunch Buddies Foundation
As this year's United Way campaign draws to a close, I wish to ask those who have not yet contributed to consider making a donation to the Los Alamos Lunch Buddies Foundation. The program's mission is to strengthen children's sense of self and relationships through compassionate, one-on-one adult mentoring. This mentoring helps "at-promise" children develop the tools necessary to thrive and become competent, responsible adults.
Even though the foundation is not listed as a United Way affiliated agency, you can still contribute to the foundation by simply checking the "Other" box in the Northern New Mexico/Los Alamos United Way section of your contribution card and writing "Los Alamos Lunch Buddies Foundation" next to the box. The money received will be used to provide new and additional training for new and current Lunch Buddy volunteers, pay for required background investigations on all volunteers and other necessities.
Of course, regardless of whether you wish to earmark your contribution for the foundation, I strongly encourage those who haven't yet made a contribution to this year's campaign to do so. Thank you all for your consideration.
