Laboratory to celebrate women's history month during March
The Los Alamos National Laboratory Women's Diversity Working Group (WDWG) will help celebrate "Women's History Month" in March by sponsoring several events under the title, "Women Putting Our Stamp on America."
The kickoff event takes place March 1 when New Mexico State Representative Jeannette Wallace and State Senator Arthur Rodarte will introduce a memorial to both houses of the legislature, proclaiming March "Women's History Month." Several WDWG members will join Rodarte on the floor of the Senate, as he introduces the memorial into the legislative record.
The other WDWG-sponsored events include a student poster exhibit, featuring works by students from Northern New Mexico in the Santa Clara Gallery on the second floor of the Oppenheimer Study Center, and a women's history display in the Otowi lobby, both are on exhibit all month. There will also be talks and a panel discussion designed to raise awareness of the roles of women at the Laboratory, in New Mexico and across the nation.
Women's History Month events take place in the Jemez Room of the Study Center.
Also planned: a talk by Martha Krebs, director of the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Research.
