Materials Science Issues for National Security

John Sarrao, MST-10

One of the Laboratory's Strategic Goals is to "Be the best materials science and technology lab in the world in support of our mission." Recent efforts to define both what this goal means and how to achieve it will be discussed.  In particular, the Materials Science and Engineering Council (MSEC) represents a cross section of divisions across the Laboratory and is tasked with articulating the materials vision within the institutional science roadmap. Progress to date will be reviewed and feedback relative to next steps will be solicited.
