Harnessing controlled molecular dynamics

Shaped femtosecond laser pulses can selectively and controllably manipulate ro-vibrational coherences in room temperature molecular gases. I will discuss the control of rotation and vibrational molecular coherences and their application to ultrafast pulse manipulation and efficient nonlinear optical frequency conversion.
