Polymer Studies

A unique arena in which SPM is being increasingly used is the study of polymers, both to understand surface structure and draw conclusions about bulk properties. Polymers are generally complicated materials and pure samples are difficult to make. As a class of materials though, polymers cover an extremely wide and important range of applications in manufacturing, consumer goods, medicine, etc. SPM can be used to answer very specific questions about a given sample, but is often used to study material and phase segregation.
The following links show how we are applying SPM to study polymer systems.
