| Research Interests |
Philip Rae is a TSM in MST-8 and came to LANL in 2001 as a Post Doctoral student working for Rusty Gray. He has a strong background in high-strain rate studies of many materials including polymers, metals and explosives. Recently, his research has focused on mechanically characterizing polymers and explosives over a wide range of strain-rates and temperatures. This data is used to fit constitutive models for inclusion in computer codes.

| Research Highlights |
During his PhD, Philip was also involved in developing new methods for recording dynamic strain fields during shock loading. |
| Education |
Philip has an honors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Reading (UK) and a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge (UK). |
