Rusty Gray (MST-8) is serving on the National Research Council for the National Academy panel entitled "Assessing the Feasibility, Accuracy, and Technical Capability of a National Ballistics Database." The project will assess the feasibility, accuracy and reliability, and technical capability of developing and using a national ballistics database as an aid to criminal investigations.

A paper by Srini and Mike Baskes (MST-8) on a simple many-body model based on classical Lennard-Jones potential has been published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. The original Lennard Jones paper was published in the same journal about 80 years ago.

Case Western Reserve University has honored Terry Mitchell (MST-8/LANL Fellow) as the Van Horn Distinguished Lecturer 2004. Previous nominees included among others D. Embury, D. Clarke, R. O. Ritchie, L. M. Brown, P. Hirsch, W. D. Nix, J. Rice, P. Haasen, M. Hilbert, M. F. Ashby, A. G. Evans, J. W. Cahn.

Ellen Cerreta (MST-8) is a Women's Career Development Mentoring Award winner.
