Surface Science

The Surface Science and Corrosion team of MST-16 comprises the bulk of the Laboratory's plutonium surface science and microscopy capabilities. The team consists of surface scientists, corrosion experts, and microscopists working with state of the art instrumentation. The Surface Science and Corrosion team mission is to understand the chemistry and physics involved in the surface phenomena observed on plutonium and plutonium oxide surfaces.
