People at the Electron Microscopy Laboratory


Rob Dickerson (dickerson@lanl.gov) is a Technical Staff Member in MST-8. Rob has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (1982)  and M.S. (1987) and Ph.D. (1989) degrees in Materials Science and Engineering, all from Case Western Reserve University. He spent 20 months as a post-doctoral guest scientist at the Forschungszentrum, Juelich, Germany developing techniques for in-situ crack growth observation at high temperatures. Before coming to LANL in 1997, he spent six years under contract at the NASA Lewis Research Center performing metallography as well as scanning and transmission electron microscopy on a large variety of metals, ceramics, and composites. Rob's major interests include electron microscopy, structure-property relationships, phase transformations, and grain boundary phenomena. He is author or co-author on approximately 50 publications.


Jim Smith (jfsmith@lanl.gov) is a Technician in MST-8.
