MPA-11 Fuel Cell Team makes major contributions to Handbook of Fuel Cells
Considered the encyclopedia of fuel cell technology and applications, the 2009 edition of the Handbook of Fuel Cells contains three chapters written by MPA-11 staff members. In Part 1: Electrocatalyst Materials for Low Temperature Fuel Cells/Novel Catalysts, Christina Johnston and Piotr Zelenay collHandbook of Fuel Cellsaborated with Piotr Piela (former postdoctoral researcher, now with the Industrial Chemistry Research Institute in Warsaw, Poland) on “Transition Metal/polymer Catalysts for O2 Reduction.” For the section on Catalyst Durability, Fernando Garzon and Francisco Uribe authored “Effects of Contaminants on Catalyst Activity.” In Part 4: Advanced Diagnostics, Models and Design/ Low-Temperature Fuel Cells, Tommy Rockward, Francisco Uribe, and Fernando Garzon collaborated with Brian Pivovar (former MPA-11 employee, now with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory) and former postdoctoral researcher Brian Kienitz (now with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) on “Performance Impact of Cationic Contaminants.”
