Jacob S. Spendelow, Ph.D.

Jacob S. Spendelow received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006, where he was funded by a NSF graduate research fellowship.  As a member of the Wieckowski and Kenis research groups at UIUC, his research involved scanning tunneling microscopy characterization of well-defined Pt-based electrocatalysts, and electrochemical studies of fuel cell reactions, including carbon monoxide oxidation, methanol oxidation, and oxygen reduction, on these catalysts.  He joined MPA-11 in August 2006 as a Director's Postdoctoral Fellow.  His current research interests are in the field of fuel cell electrocatalysis with non-precious catalysts.
