Bryan S. Pivovar, Ph.D.
Bryan Pivovar is currently Fuel Cell Team Leader for the fuel cell program at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Bryan received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1994 and completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota in February 2000. His thesis work centered on transport properties in fuel cell electrolytes with specific emphasis on proton conductivity, methanol permeability and electro-osmosis. His work in this area has continued at LANL and expanded to include fuel cell and fuel cell system diagnostics, engineering and design. His work in these areas has resulted in several peer reviewed publications and over 20 conference presentations, including work recognized by the American Chemical Society for the best paper presented in the Division of Fuel Chemistry (Richard A. Glenn Award August, 2001) and several invited talks. He has over ten years of experience in the area of polymer electrolyte fuel cells and has served as session chair, social chair, and committee member at several national and international fuel cell conferences and workshops. He was responsible for organizing a DOE-sponsored workshop on freezing effects in fuel cells and served as Chair for the 2007 Gordon Research Conference on Fuel Cells.
