Yu Seung Kim, Ph.D.

Yu Seung Kim received his B.S in Chemical Engineering from Korea University in 1994, his M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology , Korea in 1996 and 1999, respectively. Subsequently, he joined Professor James E. McGrath’s research group at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he began studying proton exchange membranes. In 2002, he joined the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he expanded his research interest on membrane-electrode assembly of hydrogen/air and direct methanol fuel cells. He received the 2002 Richard A. Glenn Award from the ACS Division of Fuel Chemistry and was an honorable mention for a distinguished postdoctoral award from Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2005. He has published over 25 papers in peer-reviewed journals and holds 3 US patents in the filed of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells.
