Currently, there are seven Diversity Working Groups (DWGs), one Interest Group, and the Diversity Affirmative Action Board, all of which operate under the auspices of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity (OEOD).
The various Laboratory diversity groups are voluntary members of the Los Alamos workforce that provide information and assistance to Laboratory management through the OEOD. Any member of the Laboratory workforce can apply to any of the working groups; they are not reserved for a particular group or culture.
The diversity groups often raise and address issues of institutional import and serve to provide hospitality to new members of the Los Alamos community. They help promote diversity awareness by sponsoring Laboratory-wide events in celebration of national heritage and history months, as well as take part in the Laboratory's recruiting efforts.
