When planning construction of a new facility or making major modifications to an existing one, it is vitally important that you include the OEOD during the design phase. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has very specific requirements. Failing to meet these requirements could result in costly reconstruction in addition to negatively impacting the Laboratory's public image. When an accessibility review is incorporated at the outset, OEOD can provide cost-effective solutions for complying with ADA standards.
We are available to provide recommendations during the planning stages of an office reconfiguration. Like new facilities, an office configuration must meet certain ADA requirements. In addition, it should consider any possible accommodations that employees occupying the space might need. We also can provide reviews of existing office space if a new or existing employee identifies a concern. Often, issues are addressed with only slight and inexpensive modifications.
