Background
In support of the U.S. Ground-Based Nuclear Explosion Monitoring (GNEM) R&D efforts, one primary research objective is to enhance discrimination capabilities between explosions and earthquakes. Our initial emphasis has been on western Asia. Below we review our efforts on basic discrimination, source and path corrections to improve discriminant performance, and multivariate techniques that allow us to statistically combine discriminants.
