Correction for path effects will reduce scatter in discrimination studies, refine regional magnitudes and help to define geophysical provinces.
Previous work demonstrates that a combination of waveguide and interpolation methods leads to effective path effect prediction. The combination yields accurate prediction in active regions and more effective extrapolation beyond. Tomographic models can be used in the same manner.
