Moment-Tensor Inversions of Single Cast Mining Cast Blasts

Data

Ground acceleration data were numerically integrated to ground velocity to prepare for the inversion. Ground velocities from shot S8 were plotted in the left figure above with normalized amplitudes to illustrate the data characteristics. In general, the waveforms are simple. Most of them last less than 0.5 second. The figure to the right is the record section of the vertical ground velocities recorded at the north-most receiver from the eight shots. As the source-receiver distance increases, SV/surface waves, indicated by the slanted line, begin to develop and separate themselves from the P waves whose arrival times are aligned vertically.
