Advanced Energetics Research Team

The Advanced Energetics Research Team concentrates on problems of shock and detonation physics, and classical and modern high energy density physics. The team also develops sensors and other devices as needs and opportunities arise.

Seeing through heavy metal with an Fresnel focused EMAT system.
Integrated Fragment Insult Studies
Studies to understand and manage weapon systems throughout handling and deployment processes.
Jet Penetration into Liquid Energetic Materials (LEM)
Shaped charge jet penetration into nitromethane in support of several experimental series.
Large Rate Sticks
Immediate initial characterization of potential terrorist explosives at relatively low costs.
Plasma Tube Experiments
Plasma tube effect exhibits uniquely useful characteristics, and exposes some excellent physics questions for future study.

Executed by a large team in response to a particular situation that needed to be mitigated in a timely and cost-effective manner.
