John P. Kindinger

John P. Kindinger is the Group Leader for the Nuclear Design and Risk Analysis Group in the Decision Applications Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Before joining LANL, Mr  Kindinger was the manager of Risk Assessment Technology at ARES Corporation for 2 years and a senior consultant with Pickard, Lowe, & Garrick (PLG), Inc., in Newport Beach, California, for 11 years. Before that, he was employed for 13 years as a staff engineer for the Consumers Power Company in Jackson, Michigan.

Mr. Kindinger has extensive experience in risk assessment and safety analysis for nuclear weapons and facilities, as well as for nuclear and fossil power plants and chemical and petroleum facilities. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and an MS in the Management of Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Recent papers and presentations authored by Mr. Kindinger include "Escaping the Compliance Trap," a November 2004 LANL internal paper; "Programmatic Risk—Completing the Enterprise Picture," presented at the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine's Enterprise Risk Management Workshop in January 2004; "Set the Bar Higher for Project Risk Analysis," presented at the PMI 2002 Southern California Risk Management Symposium; and "A Systems Approach to Project Risk Management," presented at the Sixth International Conference on Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management.
