Clean Coal Technology

The Clean Coal Technology Demonstration Program is a unique partnership between the United States Department of Energy (DOE) and industry that has as its primary goal the successful demonstration of a new new generation of advanced coal-based technologies, with the most promising technologies being moved into the domestic and international marketplace.

Since 1985 the program has resulted in a capital investment of nearly $6 billion in 40 competitively selected projects. The demonstrations are at a scale large enough to generate the data needed to enable potential users to make judgments about the commercial viability of a particular process. These demonstrations will improve the global environment and energy security through the use of technologies and services provided by US Industry.

Go to the Clean Coal Technologies Compendium, a growing repository of information derived from the Clean Coal Technology (CCT) Program. Ultimately, we hope this Compendium becomes the principal source of information for stakeholders interested in the implementation of CCT technologies. The Compendium is sponsored by the DOE Office of Fossil Energy.
