Economic
analysis at Los Alamos National Laboratory encompasses a very
eclectic collection of projects and analysis techniques. Project
areas include macroeconomic modeling, monetary and financial
flows analysis, natural resource and energy economics, environmental
analysis, and engineering economics.
This
broad agenda necessitates a variety of analytical methods and
economists have used general equilibrium models, regression,
statistics, and data mining, linear programming, in addition
to other methods as appropriate.
An example
of a recent project looking at local state issues is a study to
determine the feasibility of building a regional airport in northern
New Mexico.
