between Los Alamos National Laboratory, Centro de Investigacion
Mineria y Metalurgica, and La Comision Especial de Descontaminacion

| The
coastline of Chile where the plume dispersion and meteorological
simulations were performed. |

Meteorological
and plume dispersion simulations were performed for two smelters,
one located along the coast and the other in an inland valley.
The HOTMAC mesoscale meteorological
model and the RAPTAD puff/random-walk
dispersion model were used for the simulations. The following
papers present highlights of the study, including meteorological
sensitivity studies, comparisons with limited field measurements,
the air-quality impact on surrounding communities, and the possibility
of longer-range transport to Santiago. |
