Paying It Forward

The concept of McMillan“paying it forward” is that of helping others without expectation of repayment and in the hope that the good deed will perpetuate itself. I am proud to say that we see acts of kindness over and over in Northern New Mexico every day, but we can do even more.

I bring this up, because “paying it forward” is the theme of this year’s LANL Employee Giving Campaign. Even though our campaign has raised more money each year since Los Alamos National Security, LLC took over management of LANL in 2006, we’re working to make this year’s campaign even better. In addition to having Paul Henry, our principal associate director for capital projects, as the Lab’s campaign champion, we’re also making some adjustments to our approach this year. We’re recruiting supporters within our organizational divisions and groups so our employees can directly share with their peers how they feel about the importance of nonprofit organizations working to improve the quality of life within our region.

This is also an exciting time for the United Way of Northern New Mexico as it welcomes its new executive director, Kristy Ortega (see related article in this issue). We look forward to working with her, along with representatives from the United Way of Santa Fe County, to ensure that this year’s campaign is the best ever.

Won’t you please take this opportunity to consider a donation to one of these (or other) nonprofit organizations that do so much to improve the quality of life for all of us here in Northern New Mexico?

Thank you.

Sincerely,
