Notebooks, backpacks, pencils, and pens are among the items members of the Community Programs Office have been collecting from generous Lab employees, and others, to help area schoolchildren start their school year properly.
The drive, which started on July 9 and will run through August 10, is collecting materials for schools throughout Northern New Mexico and will be distributed by the Lab and Self Help, Inc.
The backpacks will contain a complete set of supplies for elementary and middle-school students.
Fifteen drop-off centers are located around the Lab, and people can also contribute supplies at Del Norte Credit Union branches. Monetary contributions will also be collected at the Credit Union branches if you’d like to help that way.
In addition to those listed above, Los Alamos National Security, LLC is a partner in this effort.
