LANL CAPTURES FIVE R&D 100 AWARDS

Each year, R&D Magazine recognizes “the 100 most technologically significant new products” of that year. The Lab has been entering the competition for 32 years and has won 112 times so far, for an average or 3.5 awards per year. Read more

NNMC Foundation Fundraiser

Swing into August by making plans to attend the Northern New Mexico College Foundation's 3rd Annual President's Golf Tournament. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 9, at the Black Mesa Golf Course in Espanola. Read more

Backpacking the Kids Off to School

Autumn is here and so is LANL’s school-supply drive. Our goal is to collect enough school supplies to fill 800 backpacks. Read more

Los Alamos Concert Association's Fall Season

It’s not too soon to mark your calendars for the start of the Los Alamos Concert Association’s music season. It kicks off on Sunday, October 17, with classical music provided by Julie Albers on cello and Orion Weiss on piano. Read more

SFSI Offers Science Teachers Support

The Santa Fe Science Initiative (SFSI), which began in 2001, provides K-7 teacher professional development through workshops as well as mentors for ongoing consultation in inquiry-science methods. Read more

Los Alamos Education Equipment Gift Program (LEEG)

If your educational or nonprofit institution needs equipment to conduct technical or scientific research, you may want to check out LANL's LEEG program. Through the program, the Lab is able to gift Department of Energy and Los Alamos National Laboratory equipment under federal guidelines. Read more

No Idle Summer For Some Regional Teachers and Students

Students and teachers from local schools spent some of their precious summer days strengthening their understanding of environmental, scientific, and mathematical concepts with the help of LANL employees and multiple support organizations. Read more

Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) Day Coming in September

Due to the popularity of the Lab's first LDRD Day last year, a second session will be held on September 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Hilton Hotel at Buffalo Thunder in Santa Fe. Read more

NMSBA Launches New Website and Publication

The New Mexico Small Business Assistance (NMSBA) Program, a collaboration of Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories designed to use their unique technical capabilities to aid small businesses, recently launched a new website. Read more

"Next Big Idea" Chalks Up Another Success

July saw another Next Big Idea event that attracted more than 1,500 people to Los Alamos. For three years now, multiple organizations have teamed to help students from throughout the state learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) activities using Los Alamos' unique creative heritage. New Security Changes on LANL Property

Two security/safety changes are currently taking place on Lab property.

- Random vehicle inspections have begun along Pajarito Road, and searches continue at the Truck Inspection Station on the truck route (East Jemez Road).

- In addition, the Los Alamos Police Department is increasing its presence on Lab property and will issue tickets for traffic violations, including speeding, reckless driving, etc., and enforce handicapped-parking laws. Read more
