Resuming Full Laboratory Operations

Once the Las Conchas Fire was sufficiently controlled to allow the Lab’s 11,000 employees and contractors to come back to work on July 6, a Recovery Operations Center (ROC) was set up to handle employees’ questions and concerns. Read more


Las Conchas Recovery Challenge Fund created at LANB

Los Alamos National Security, LLC (LANS) has given $50,000 as seed money to establish a fund at Los Alamos National Bank (LANB) to reimburse area businesses that provided goods and services during the Las Conchas Fire. Employees and the public can make a donation to the fund at any LANB branch in Los Alamos, Santa Fe, or Albuquerque. Read more

Community members can learn about volunteer opportunities related to the Las Conchas Fire recovery by going to a new Facebook page. Read more

Volunteers and Nonprofit Organizations Recognized

More than 200 nonprofit organizations received more than $160,000 in contributions from Los Alamos National Security, LLC (LANS) during a recognition event held June 22 at Fuller Lodge in downtown Los Alamos. Read more

Lab High-Priority Flood and Erosion Control Work Complete

Lab work crews have installed 600 feet of water diversion barriers and removed more than 1,200 cubic yards of sediment in anticipation of flash flooding resulting from Las Conchas Fire damage. Read more

Jeanette Wallace Receives New Mexico First Award

State Representative Jeanette Wallace, who passed away in April, has been posthumously awarded New Mexico First’s Spirit of Bipartisanship Award. Read more

New Mineral Named After Lab Leader Terry Wallace

In 2005, outside of Lima, Peru, a rare mineral was discovered by William Pinch. In turn, the substance was characterized by a University of Arizona mineralogy team lead by Robert Downs. The Downs team then suggested the name “Terrywallaceite” in honor of the Lab leader’s extensive work on silver minerals and his service to the mineral-collecting community. Read more
