About AOT-IC

The Instrumentation and Controls (AOT-IC) Group of the Accelerator Operations and Technology (AOT) Division is responsible for automated control and monitoring of accelerator devices at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE). The group comprises the following four teams:

  • The Electronics Computer-Aided Design Team provides ECAD design services for AOT and LANSCE divisions and other Laboratory organizations.
  • The Beam Diagnostics Team designs, develops, installs, and maintains beam diagnostics instruments for LANSCE and other projects such as beam line devices, electronics, computer interfaces, and algorithms.
  • The Electronics Team designs and develops devices for (1) automated control and monitoring of accelerator components and (2) distribution of timing signals. This team also installs and maintains the controls system includingc computers, networks, electronics, and connections between electronics and accelerator components.
  • The Controls Software Team designs, develops, installs, and maintains the software that runs on front-end computers that directly acquire data and command devices, as well as operator interfaces used to interact with the front-end computers and perform other essential functions, including event logging, archiving, and displaying the accelerator status.
