Security and Safeguards Directorate
We live and work together during threatening and uncertain times, as evidenced by the events of 9-11 and continuous worldwide terrorist actions.
The Security and Safeguards Directorate, including Protection Technology Los Alamos (PTLA), is here to enable Los Alamos National Laboratory to achieve its national security and science missions. We are responsible for preventing and neutralizing threats to the Laboratory.
The Security and Safeguards Directorate's mission is to protect our special nuclear material, property, information, and personnel. We provide expertise, support, and guidance in all areas of security and safeguards -- from classification to personnel security, and especially nuclear material control and accountability.
Our vision for the Directorate is to be “best in class” in the DOE/NNSA Security and Safeguards community.
