Global Security Vision
William Rees Appointed to New Global Security Leadership Position at Los Alamos National Laboratory >> Read More
The Global Security Directorate vision
is to help reduce or deter threats to U.S. national security.
The Directorate seeks to enhance our nation's security. We do so by developing
and applying the Laboratory's technical capabilities to an array of threats that
have emerged since the end of the cold war. These threats include weakened control
over nuclear materials and expertise from the former Soviet Union (FSU), proliferation
of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), the more lethal aims of today's terrorists,
and the emergence of "rogue states" threatening U.S. interests and regional stability.
Respect for each individual and appreciation for each employees' contribution,
regardless of position, are hallmarks of the Global Security Directorate.
